The owner of this hope wanted to open up the kitchen so that they are not isolated while entertaining friends and family as there was a wall dividing the kitchen from the dining and living room areas.  We came up with a new layout for the kitchen by removing the wall and building a knee wall that would offer some spacial separation and at the same time provide additional countertop space.  They also wanted the kitchen to have more of a coastal feeling so we came up with the idea to add beadboard to the kitchen ceiling and have the upper cabinets go to the ceiling.  We added a prep sink in the island and re-located the oven and refrigerator.   The client also really liked the “leather finish” on the beautiful countertops rather than shiny finish that most granite countertops have on them.
